Videos
Just for fun, one day I decided to teach myself how to make fan-videos,
with TNA as my main subject. I'd had ideas for years, and finally some of them were realised.
I've posted my output thus far. Some are TNA-exclusive, some include the original Avengers as well.
All are made for entertainment purposes only. No copyright infringement intended.
Comments are much appreciated. These take hours to create, and I try to make the content as relevant to the songs and lyrics as possible. Have a look.
All videos are also available via my YouTube page.
- Something To Talk About--Purdey and Gambit:
A video for Purdey and Gambit, who always seemed to have something to talk about. This song always reminded me of their
relationship. "You've got to let me in or let me out," seems to me to sum up Gambit's sentiment perfectly, while Purdey, I think,
often wonders about a certain boy. Music is "Something to Talk About" by Badly Drawn Boy.
- Purdey Don't Feel Like Dancin:'
I love the Scissor Sisters. Their music always reminds of the score for TNA,
and this piece in particular always sounds to me like the sort of thing Purdey and Gambit would dance to when they went down the disco.
To top it off, one line refers to not feeling like dancing "when the old Joanna plays," which fits too well to be ignored. Different lines could easily refer to Purdey or Gambit, making it sort of a back and forth. The structure is meant to reflect one long day, starting with
the previous day's events, after which Gambit goes home, goes to bed, and finds himself woken up by Purdey, before repeating the process all over again. In the end, it's
meant to be a humourous bit of fun. And it makes good use of those disco scenes in "Angels of Death." Music is "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" by the Scissor Sisters.
- The Avengers: Keeping Things Friendly Since 1961:
I've always preferred "Keep it Friendly" to "Kinky Boots"
in Patrick and Honor's repetoire, so naturally this one would come in for the video treatment eventually. Honor's actually quite good, strident and saucy in all the right places. Patrick...well, there's no
telling how much alcohol they'd poured down him by this point, but it may have helped a bit more than during "Kinky." It was lots of fun
finding occasions where our Avengers were "friendly" with each other, particularly in a show that epitomises subtlety. Funny how when
- Needed: One Pair of Boots, Preferably Kinky:
But once you've done one song, you must do the other. And I like boots anyway.
This one was surprisingly tough for a short song, however. Getting good shots of everyone (and I do mean everyone's) boots was tough, but I'm pleased with the result. Boots! Boots!
- When She Was Young:
Based around the events of "Obsession," this one is meant to parallel Purdey's past
with Larry and present with Gambit. The lyrics to the song by the Killers always made me think of Purdey and what she was obviously looking for in a man--and how Gambit more than matches up to her want list. Lots of shots
of Purdey looking thoughtful, and a few experiments with sepia tone.
- Should I Stay? Being Mike Gambit:
I thought Gambit deserved a video of his own, so I made one.
Poor Gambit is always being strung along by Purdey, to the point that he never knows where he stands, and if he should get out or stay the course. Of course, in the end, is there ever really any doubt as to whether he'd stay?
- I'm Here, You're Here: Purdey and Gambit:
Another fluffy Purdey/Gambit video, this time set to David Cassidy's "I'm Here, You're Here." The lyrics
encapsulate Gambit's feelings for Purdey beautifully, I think, and combine with the jazzy melody to convey a message of gentle persuasion. Since that's what Gambit more or less tries throughout the series, it seemed fitting!
